Hayden Paddon (WRC) delivered an impressive performance on the first day of Rally Paraguay, a challenging event known for difficult terrain and unpredictable weather. Paddon briefly led the rally, his first time since 2018, showcasing his resilience and determination despite limited participation in recent years. He excelled in the third stage, demonstrating technical skill and strategy, but a tire puncture forced him to relinquish the lead, highlighting the unpredictable nature of rally racing. Paddon's experience reflected the highs and lows of motorsport as he aimed for a strong finish.

 

Elfyn Evans faced difficulties, losing a crucial minute due to tire delamination, affecting his time and strategy. Sami Pajari capitalized on these challenges, taking the lead and finishing 11.9 seconds ahead of Paddon, who secured second place despite setbacks. Evans ended the day in third, striving to recover lost ground.

 

The rally saw significant attrition, with drivers like Adrien Fourmaux, Oliver Solberg, Sebastien Ogier, Takamoto Katsuta, and Thierry Neuville facing issues or retiring. This underscored the rally's demanding nature. Paddon acknowledged the challenges and anticipated tougher conditions with forecasted rain, emphasizing the need for drivers to adjust tactics and maintain focus.
