Kostecki Dominates Sunday In The Ville!

Brodie Kostecki claimed victory in race three of the Repco Supercars Championship weekend at Reid Park, concluding the NTI Townsville 500. Kostecki overtook pole sitter Cameron Waters through an undercut and held a solid lead following the initial pit stops. Matt Payne secured second place, while Waters faced challenges due to a slow final pit stop and fuel issues. After the race, Kostecki celebrated with burnouts and grazed the wall at the chicane, resulting in scratches on his car. Kostecki expressed his delight for the Shell V-Power Racing Team, noting that the #17 Ford Mustang showed promise throughout the weekend.

Starting from pole position, Waters took the lead initially, though Wood briefly contested it. A multi-car incident occurred involving Aaron Cameron, Andre Heimgartner, De Pasquale, and Macauley Jones. Cooper Murray was penalized 15 seconds for causing James Golding to spin. Heimgartner, Cameron, and Jones were forced to retire from the race due to various problems. The race restarted with Waters in the lead, followed by Wood and Kostecki.

Kostecki advanced to second position and later gained a considerable advantage over Waters by executing an undercut during the initial pit stop sequence, securing a significant lead. During this sequence, Payne also moved ahead of Waters. Will Brown, who began in 19th position, fell to 10th following his pit stop. Kostecki stayed in the lead over Payne, with Waters in third place.

Waters later overtook Payne to claim second place. Kostecki pitted with an eight-second advantage, while Waters' following pit stop was slow and unfinished, requiring him to conserve. Allen also encountered a problem during his pit stop. After the second round of pit stops, Kostecki was ahead of Payne, and Waters eventually secured third place. Kostecki ultimately won the race with a considerable lead over Payne and Waters.
