The Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour race was red-flagged with just over three-and-a-half hours remaining due to a severe crash near Forrest’s Elbow.
The incident began when Johannes Zelger’s Porsche reportedly hit a wall, leading to nose-to-tail contact with Kai Allen’s Mercedes-AMG. Zelger’s Porsche then blocked the track, and while most cars passed, Damien Hamilton’s Aston Martin stopped.
The race-leading Mercedes-AMG, driven by Ralf Aron, then collided with the stationary Porsche, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Aron was later taken to Orange Hospital for precautionary checks.
Miraculously, other drivers like Maro Engel and Luca Stolz managed to avoid the wreckage. The crash occurred shortly after a Safety Car period for an earlier incident.
