While much focus has been on Declan Fraser's struggles, Ojeda's impressive performance deserves attention as he nears a Finals Series spot. The 26-year-old is 12th in the standings, showcasing his skill, determination, and resilience. Among five rookies, Ojeda stands out with six top 10 finishes in the last nine races, highlighting his potential in a competitive field.

In Townsville, Ojeda's consistency shone through with finishes of ninth, 11th, and 10th, demonstrating his ability to perform under pressure. Starting from ninth, 17th, and 10th grid positions, he effectively navigated the field, employing strategic maneuvers to capitalize on opportunities.

“It likely reflects our current situation,” Dane explained in regard to Ojeda’s performance at the Reid Park street circuit. “Our potential qualifying speed might be slightly better than our race speed, but we’re continuously improving. “If you observe, even Triple Eight may have had a rough weekend, yet they remain competitive, along with Groves, one of the DJR cars, at least one of the Tickford cars, and both Walkinshaw cars…”

"It's somewhat similar to watching F1 right now, where there are four major teams and then the midfield battling it out. I dislike it, but that's how it seems at the moment. I don't think we're far off, but we need to make that next move. You notice that Anton [De Pasquale] is sometimes up there and sometimes not; it's very unpredictable for all of us right now."

Dane was recruited into the PremiAir team this season by owner Peter Xiberras to elevate the previously underperforming operation. This decision stirred some discontent at Triple Eight, as Dane's new role came only a year after he parted ways with the team he founded.

When asked about Triple Eight's difficulties in Townsville, Dane commented: “It’s happened before. “They still performed well in the races, but I was surprised they didn't manage to excel in qualifying over the weekend. “I’m not familiar with how the team functions now. I’m no longer involved, so I can’t judge what’s good or bad. “However, they have two very skilled drivers and many talented people, so I believe they might resolve it. Time will tell.”
