SVG Does It Again.

Shane van Gisbergen won the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts race at Circuit of the Americas after a late race restart.

Van Gisbergen had been leading but a caution dropped him to sixth for the restart with five laps remaining. He then passed five cars on the final restart to secure the victory. This marks his fifth road course win in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

Van Gisbergen expressed satisfaction with the win and acknowledged the pit crew and strategy. He also mentioned learning from the race, which serves as a warm-up for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series race.

Earlier in the race, van Gisbergen and his teammate Connor Zilisch battled for the lead, with van Gisbergen initially taking the lead before Zilisch passed him. Hill eventually won Stage 1. Sam Mayer finished second and Allgaier third, while van Gisbergen was tenth.

Van Gisbergen resumed the lead of the race for Stage 2 after front-runners pitted. On the restart, Brent Crews took the lead, making a massive gain.

Van Gisbergen initially fell to fourth but made headway, passing Smith and Zilisch. The #88 car experienced brake problems, leading to extensive repairs for Zilisch, who was later spun.

Van Gisbergen took the lead from Crews on Lap 29. Baltazar Leguizamon crashed due to brake failure, setting up a two-lap dash.

Van Gisbergen finished fifth in Stage 2. In Stage 3, van Gisbergen worked his way to third and then took the lead with a two-for-one pass.

The final stage was calm until a caution with nine laps left. Van Gisbergen fell to sixth for the final restart but regained ground with a five-in-one pass.

The final five laps were chaotic with multiple spins and crashes involving Burton, Mayer, Caruth, Kvapil, and Zilisch. Van Gisbergen ultimately won the race by just under a second over Hill after 65 laps.
