Suspended & Fined, Teams Integrity Remains...

NASCAR Cup Series driver Carson Hocevar has been suspended by Spire Motorsports and fined $143,000 following a brake-checking incident at Martinsville. SMT data confirmed that Hocevar braked while exiting a corner, resulting in a collision with Austin Cindric that ended Cindric’s race.
Spire Motorsports CEO Jeff Dickerson stated that the decision to suspend Hocevar for the Homestead-Miami finale was based on the team's commitment to professional integrity rather than points or money.
Hocevar accepted responsibility for his actions, calling the event an embarrassing moment in his career and expressing his intention to return as a better teammate in 2024. Additionally, NASCAR penalized driver Josh Berry 25 points and fined him $71,000 for a similar brake-checking incident involving Ryan Blaney.
