Andre Heimgartner achieved an eighth-place finish in the Sydney 500 opener, driving a Toyota Supra, which was met with approval from Toyota representatives.
Heimgartner expressed satisfaction with the car's performance, acknowledging it was a new package with a new aero and engine.
He noted the car's engine delivery was different from other models but felt they had it in a good spot. While straight-line speed was not a major issue, he indicated there was room for improvement in how the power is delivered.
Other Toyota Supras had a more challenging race; Walkinshaw TWG Racing drivers Ryan Wood and Chaz Mostert finished 21st and 15th respectively, and BJR drivers Cam Hill and Macauley Jones finished 16th and 22nd. The teams recognized the need for further development and adjustments.
