Formula 1 will trial a higher pit-lane speed limit at the Singapore Grand Prix.
The speed limit will increase from 60 kmh to 80 kmh during Friday practice. This change aims to shake up strategy and potentially extend to qualifying and the race.
The current restriction forces teams into conservative strategies due to limited overtaking and pit-stops consuming significant time.
Raising the limit could cut pit-stop times by up to six seconds, making multi-stop strategies more viable.
The trial follows a successful experiment at Zandvoort, where higher speeds were deemed safe and effective. Drivers have supported raising the limit, expecting it to be valuable during safety car interventions or higher tyre degradation.
