The South Australian government is interested in supporting The Bend Motorsport Park's bid to host MotoGP.
The current deal between the Victorian government and Dorna Sports for the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix ends this year, and there are reports of an impasse regarding its future location in Victoria.
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas clarified that The Bend, not a street circuit, would be the proposed venue, and the Shahin family would lead negotiations.
Malinauskas stated the government would back the Shahins if a genuine opportunity arose. He also acknowledged that the speculation might be a bargaining chip between Dorna and the Victorian government and expressed disinterest in a bidding war, though he affirmed support for The Bend if they pursue such events.
Malinauskas emphasized that any potential deal would not be driven by rivalry with Victoria.
