Austin Cindric will drive the iconic No.2 Freightliner Ford at North Wilkesboro Speedway, featuring a black-and-gold paint scheme that honors Rusty Wallace's 1993 car. This design celebrates NASCAR's rich history and pays tribute to Wallace's lasting impact on the sport.

The throwback scheme is part of Team Penske's 60th-anniversary celebration, highlighting its legacy of excellence since 1966 with numerous championships. The return of North Wilkesboro Speedway to the NASCAR Cup Series adds excitement, reviving a beloved track with a storied past. Fans and drivers are eager to experience the nostalgia and contemporary racing action at this historic venue.

Wallace, the 1989 Cup Series champion, swept the 1993 North Wilkesboro races, laying the foundation for Team Penske’s NASCAR program. Cindric’s car will display a mosaic of photos and the names of Team Penske employees, including four—Mike Wingate, Jeffrey Thousand, Gary Brooks, and Dave Munari—who worked on Wallace’s 1993 car and continue to build race cars for the team.

In 1993, Wallace achieved a career-high 10 wins, including sweeps at North Wilkesboro and Rockingham Speedway. Munari recalled a North Wilkesboro race where crew chief Buddy Parrott's strategy to pit Wallace for new tires after 30 laps allowed him to nearly lap the second-place car. Munari, Wingate, Thousand, and Brooks exemplify Team Penske's long-term success through their extended employment.

Thousand highlighted that owner Roger Penske provides all necessary resources for performance. Brooks was attracted to Team Penske due to their superior equipment and skilled employees. Cindric, aiming for a 2026 win, appreciates Team Penske's strength on short tracks and superspeedways, valuing employee involvement in what he considers a home race.
