• Reports suggest Max Verstappen is close to agreeing to a deal with Mercedes, despite being contracted with Red Bull through 2028. Negotiations between Verstappen and Mercedes have progressed, although a decision from Mercedes' board is pending.

• Toto Wolff confirmed talks with Verstappen, and George Russell indicated his own deal is delayed due to Mercedes' interest in Verstappen.

• A Mercedes decision is expected around the mid-summer break, which coincides with a potential exit clause in Verstappen's contract.

• This clause reportedly allows Verstappen to leave Red Bull if he's not in the top three by the break.

• Helmut Marko downplayed Verstappen leaving, but acknowledged performance-based exit clauses exist.

• Martin Brundle suggested Red Bull is scrambling due to the threat of Verstappen's departure, noting Russell's nervousness.

• Verstappen has remained tight-lipped, neither confirming nor denying the speculation.
