Supercars is introducing a new parity review system for 2026 that reintroduces a lap time-based trigger.
This system, outlined in a new ‘Technical Parity Regulations’ document, will involve a complex trigger equation using lap time data from the fastest cars of each model, equated to a 60-second lap.
It will run as a rolling six-race calculation to determine if adjustments are needed for any car models.
This change comes as Supercars prepares to add the Toyota Supra to its lineup, joining the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro.
The previous lap time-based trigger was abandoned after the 2023 season, and Supercars has since used various monitoring tools.
The new system aims to provide a clear trigger for action, as opposed to constantly searching for disparities.
Under the new system, if a trigger point is activated, the motorsport boss must review the data and commence a process to correct the disparity, with the Supercars Board having final approval for adjustments.
Adjustments identified before the first endurance event can be implemented during the season, but those identified after can only be implemented between seasons.
