Kostecki VS Dutton.

Triple Eight manager Mark Dutton claims Brodie Kostecki should have been banned from competing at the Sydney 500 due to alleged espionage. Kostecki was filmed looking underneath Will Brown’s Triple Eight Ford Mustang and Chaz Mostert’s Walkinshaw TWG Toyota Supra.

Brown uploaded the footage, but officials took no action. Dutton is upset because he believes Kostecki gained access to Triple Eight’s "Intellectual Property" regarding rear suspension settings.

He stated that in motorsport, stealing IP is worse than drug cheating because it can make a car faster. Kostecki claimed he saw nothing, but Dutton found this contradictory given Kostecki also noted the Toyota was covered.

Dutton explained that teams usually cover their cars to prevent prying eyes, but the Supercars launch timing meant Triple Eight had its starting setup applied. He argued that Kostecki had unconsented access to half of their rear suspension setup, which is developed with significant investment.

Dutton also claimed Kostecki forced his way under the car despite Brown's attempts to stop him, viewing it as a clear breach of rules. He cited rule B6.5.4, "Conduct Prejudicial," and rule B6.3.1, which allows referral to stewards, as grounds for action.
