Ford Supercars teams, including Dick Johnson Racing and Tickford Racing, tested Mustang aerodynamic parts at Queensland Raceway to address parity concerns before the Bathurst 1000. The Mustang is perceived to have a straight-line speed deficit compared to the Chevrolet Camaros.
DJR and Brodie Kostecki are leading the push for changes, with Kostecki seeking feedback from Cam Waters. The test included modified front splitter, side skirts, and rear wing position.
Engine tweaks and a barometric pressure study are also being considered to improve parity. Supercars, Ford, and DJR have declined to comment on the specifics of the test.
Supercars is reportedly frustrated with Ford's shifting parity complaints regarding engine and aero since the Gen3 cars' introduction.
Ford is also facing crankshaft reliability issues before the Bathurst race for the second consecutive year.
The future of the parity situation and potential track testing remains uncertain before the upcoming Enduro Cup event.
Supercars will use the Windshear wind tunnel in December to homologate the new Toyota Supra for 2026. This test will include a Team 18 Camaro and a Triple Eight Mustang, which may be adjusted if it doesn't match the GM car's performance.
