Crutchlow Continues To Substitute...

The three-time MotoGP winner will continue to substitute for Zarco after the summer break, this time racing in front of his home fans at Silverstone. British MotoGP fans have received the news they were hoping for – Cal Crutchlow will keep standing in for the injured Johann Zarco, riding in Castrol Honda LCR colors at the upcoming Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Great Britain.

The British rider, who has been filling the Frenchman's spot since the Italian Grand Prix, last raced at his cherished Silverstone in 2021 with Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, replacing the injured Franco Morbidelli. His last full-time appearance at the iconic venue was in 2019 when Crutchlow secured a P6, also with Castrol Honda LCR.

Crutchlow’s most notable MotoGP weekend at Silverstone occurred in 2016, again with LCR, when he secured pole position and finished P2 in the Grand Prix – marking consecutive podiums after his first victory in Brno. Overall, Crutchlow has achieved five top-seven finishes at the British Grand Prix, and while replicating his top Silverstone results from 2012 (P6), 2013 (P7), 2016 (P2), 2017 (P4), and 2019 (P6) might be unlikely, seeing the #35 back in MotoGP at Silverstone is a victory in itself for British fans.

And who knows, after competing for points at the Sachsenring, don’t discount the power of home crowd support – and there will be plenty for the British legend – potentially giving Crutchlow an extra boost to compete for points again in Northamptonshire.
