Courtney's Take On Camaro Upgrades...

Team 18 co-driver James Courtney highlighted the significant impact of recent parity adjustments made to the Chevrolet Camaro during an event at The Bend.

Supercars initially increased the Camaro's downforce by widening the undertray tunnel by 70mm, a modification that prompted legal complaints from Ford teams for falling outside the agreed parity regulations. Courtney noted that this front-end change notably affected the car's pitch sensitivity and corner entry behavior, particularly due to the reduced overall downforce of Gen3 vehicles.

In response to the legal pressure, Supercars mandated a 0.3-degree reduction in the Camaro's rear wing angle to restore parity, which Courtney observed placed more strain on the rear tires during specific corners.

While the initial front-end change was described as substantial, teams and officials continue to debate the ongoing aerodynamic balance. Supercars is now conducting further parity testing on engine braking, center of gravity, and barometric pressure in preparation for the upcoming Bathurst 1000.
