South Australia is set to host Australia's MotoGP round after Victoria failed to secure a new deal with MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group beyond this year.

This means Phillip Island will host the final premier two-wheel category race this October before MotoGP moves to South Australia, with a plan for an Adelaide street race.

The timeline for this move is unclear, and an immediate city-based event is considered unlikely.

One option is for The Bend Motorsport Park to host MotoGP from 2027 while a street circuit is developed, as the current Victoria Park street circuit is not suitable for motorcycle racing.

The Adelaide street race plan has been embraced by the South Australian government, known for its investment in sporting events.

Victoria's rejection of a move to Albert Park was the sticking point in their negotiations with MotoGP, as the Victorian government prioritized backing regional Victoria and Phillip Island.
