The Blanchard Racing Team achieved a front-row lockout for Race 1 of the Repco Supercars Championship season at the Dunlop Sydney 500. James Golding, driving the #7 CoolDrive Ford Mustang, set a new lap record with a time of 1:27.9510, leading his teammate Aaron Cameron.
This marks Golding's second career pole position and the first for the Blanchard family. Golding acknowledged the team's collective effort, stating that qualifying is a great start but the focus is now on executing the race.
The qualifying session was divided into two segments, with the top 10 drivers from Q1 advancing to Q2. Matt Payne and Broc Feeney secured an all-Ford first two rows, while Anton De Pasquale was the top Chevrolet driver in fifth place.
Other drivers in the top 10 included Zach Bates, Cameron Waters, Will Brown, Thomas Randle, and Andre Heimgartner.
Brodie Kostecki of Dick Johnson Racing missed the top 10, citing issues in microsector one and two and potential tire pressure problems. Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood of Walkinshaw TWG Racing were also notably absent from the top 10.
