Audi has fired up its first Formula 1 powertrain for its 2026 F1 chassis, marking a new beginning for the brand's debut in the 2026 world championship.
Audi acquired the Sauber outfit and will compete in F1 with its own power unit, capitalizing on new engine regulations emphasizing electric power.
This event occurred on December 19 at the Hinwil base, one of three factories supporting Audi's F1 effort.
Mattia Binotto, head of the Audi F1 project, described it as a special moment and a tangible result of collective ambition.
Team principal Jonathan Wheatley added that this successful fire-up is a critical milestone validating the quality of work and collaboration.
Audi will host its season launch in Berlin and partake in pre-season testing before the Australian Grand Prix.
