Mercedes has confirmed that George Russell and Kimi Antonelli will be their Formula 1 driver pairing into 2026. This announcement continues Mercedes’ philosophy of utilizing drivers from their junior program.
Russell, who joined Mercedes in 2017, will enter his fifth season with the team.
Antonelli will continue into his second year after a promising rookie season. Toto Wolff stated that retaining both drivers was always the plan, with the focus now on the current season and beyond.
Russell's new deal solidifies his position as team leader, while Antonelli's confirmation brings stability after his debut season. Both drivers expressed their excitement to continue with the team and focus on the future.
The move ends speculation about Mercedes' driver plans after exploratory talks with Max Verstappen.
